About Institutional Fixed-price Service

The institutional fixed-price service is available to such institutions as universities, libraries, and private corporations, with registration accepted on an institutional basis. A list of currently registered institutions is provided below.

Institutional Fixed-price Service users

• Scope of service
  • Users have access to all CiNii functions and to the full text of academic society journals recorded in the NII-ELS that are available under institutional contracts.

  

• Usage charges
  • o The usage charge is an annual fixed sum determined based on the number of full-time faculty members or researchers (excluding students, graduate students, and administrative staff). (Applications are accepted mid-year, but membership must be renewed each fiscal year.)

• Payment of usage charges
  • Usage charges are paid by a single transfer of the whole annual charge to the specified bank account.
  • Invoices are issued by the NII on the 8th of the month in which usage commences (or on the next working day if the 8th is a holiday), and the deadline for payment is the end of the month following the month in which usage commences.
• Verification method
  • Verification is performed using IP addresses.
• Limitations on the number of terminals
  • There is no limit to the number of workstations or terminals that can be connected at once.
• Organizational units for applications
  • Please apply for this service as a whole institution.
  • A single application is acceptable even if the institution is distributed over a number of campuses.
  • Applications are acceptable from individual organizations such as faculties or associated institutions if the organization can be identified from the IP addresses.

Site License Individual ID

• Members affiliated to an institution having an Institutional Fixed-price Service contract (teaching staff, students, etc.; excludes visitors) can acquire a CiNii user ID free of charge.
• With a Site License Individual ID, full text of academic papers authorized for Subscription users can be freely accessed from home or other location outside the institution.
• Paid content that are not authorized for fixed-price use can be viewed by paying per-paper usage charges. See Service with Site License Individual ID for details.
• If University set the Idp that associated with GakuNin(shibboleth) or UK Federation, users will be able to use CiNii with the ID given by the university instead of sign up for Site License Individual ID.

Note: Submission deadline for Usage Application Form

• A certain amount of time is required for registering new users on the system and for testing connections, so please be sure that your Usage Application Form arrives at NII no later than the 20th before the month you wish to start the service.
