About count failure in the usage statistics (May 17, 2013)

The failure has been occurred in the usage statistics of the institutional fixed-price service and statistics for the person in charge of academic society as follows. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

Resumption of the data update of CiNii Articles (May 17, 2013)

The data update of CiNii Articles had been suspended by system migration since Monday February 18.

“NII-ELS Electronic Library Service Academic Society Journals” and “NII-ELS Electronic Library Service Research Bulletins”data as of Wednesday April 10, 2013 have been reflected in CiNii Articles on Thursday April 18, 2013. Updating other databases and usual weekly update have been restarted since early May.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

About the resolution of function restrictions on CiNii Articles by system migration (May 9, 2013)

We have resolved function restrictions on CiNii Articles we announced in "About temporary restriction of functions on CiNii Articles by system migration(April 3, 2013)" as follows.

• In Advanced search mode, specifying date of publication is unavailable. →It is now available.
• When you search by inputting author's name in the free word or author field of Article search, white space is required between family and first name. →White space is now not required.
• Maximum number of Article search results are limited to 10,000.→Now it has no limits.
• Keywords, abstracts, and codes are not displayed in some papers. →Now they are displayed.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience, which lasted for some time.

CiNii Articles is now available under the following condition. Now we are trying to solve the problem. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

• In Advanced search mode, specifying date of publication is unavailable. *It has been resolved since April 25, 2013
• When you search by inputting author's name in the free word or author field of Article search, white space is required between family and first name. (Not required in the Author search)*It has been resolved since April 25, 2013
• Maximum number of Article search results are limited to 10,000.*It has been resolved since April 25, 2013
• Keywords, abstracts, and codes are not displayed in some papers.*It has been resolved since May 9, 2013

Restarting of the data update of CiNii Articles has been postponed (April 3, 2013)

About the data update that has been suspended after February 18 (Mon.), restart has been postponed from April 8 (Mon.) to late April.

The provision conditions for CiNii PDF displayed on article search results and article details page will not be updated until the data update is restarted. The display of the provision conditions of the journals in which its condition was changed from April might differ from actual condition. When actually using the contents, the new conditions are applied.

Termination of CiNii Articles for mobile phones (April 3, 2013)

The service of CiNii Articles for mobile phones ended at the end of March 2013.

Yahoo! JAPAN's Article Search ended its service on March 19. (March 19, 2013)

Yahoo! JAPAN's Article Search for which CiNii Articles provides data ended its service on March 19.

Bibliographic history viewer of CiNii Books will be stopped from 20:00 on March 15 to 9:00 on 19 [JST]. (March 15, 2013)

Bibliographic history viewer which is linked from "Bibliographic history ID" at Details column of Journals Details Pages of CiNii Books will be stopped due to system migration of NACSIS-CAT/ILL from 20:00 on Fri. March 15 to 9:00 on Tue. March 19, 2013 [JST].

NACSIS Webcat ended its service on March 8, 2013. (March 8, 2013)

NACSIS Webcat (Retrieval service for NACSIS-CAT Databases on World Wide Web) ended its service at noon on March 8, 2013.

[Renewal Procedure]

Renewal can be done through the website without any paper procedure.

1. Login with your administrator ID and password at the Administrator login page.
   * Login with your administrator ID and password at the administrator login page.
   * Your Administrator ID and password are stated in the notification that has been sent to the contract person when the contract started.
   * If there are any changes for the current data, it needs to be modified before the renewal procedure.
2. Click "Renewal application".
3. Read the "Usage Regulations" and click "I Agree".
4. Update your institutional data and click "Next". (Your data for 2012 will be saved separately.)
5. Confirm your renewal data and click "Next".
6. The contract renewal has been completed. Please save your application number displayed for any inquiries.

2. About function enhancement of CiNii on the fiscal year 2012
The new and upgraded features of CiNii on the fiscal year 2012 are below:

1. Links from CiNii Articles to The Japanese Agricultural Sciences Index (JASI):

Links from CiNii Articles to about 100,000 full text documents on The Japanese Agricultural Sciences Index (JASI) run by The Tsukuba Office, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council Secretariat were added.


2. Linkages with reference management service:

You can directly export bibliographic information to reference management service RefWorks, EndNote (including EndNote Web) and Mendeley from CiNii Articles and CiNii Books.


3. Improvements on book & journal details page of CiNii Books:

Improvements on book & journal details page of CiNii Books are as follows.

• Preferential display on the holding libraries list when accessing from the Institution using the institutional fixed-price service
• Displaying cover page
• Displaying link resolvers and OPAC link which institution can set (by using OpenURL)



4. Linkages with social media services:

Linkage button of Twitter and Facebook are available on the details page of CiNii Articles and CiNii Books.


5. Saving search settings for the holding libraries on CiNii Books:

It became possible to save the filter which limit to books held by particular libraries or organizations or particular area.

3. Renewal of Site License Individual ID
* For all the Site License Individual ID Users.

Monday, April 1 - Friday, May 31, 2013.
* The renewal period is limited only during the above dates.

 

[Instruction]

A Site License Individual ID is renewable only from a computer within the institution after April 1.
We will inform about the renewal of Site License Individual ID for the users by E-mail later.

System migration of CiNii is scheduled to take place at the end of March 2013. Regarding this, update of CiNii data will be stopped as follows.

Dropping support for Internet Explorer 6 (January 18, 2013)

CiNii will drop support for Internet Explorer 6 on April 2013.
For the time being you may be able to use it without any problems as well as other browsers but we cannot guarantee to work in later feature changes in CiNii.

Regarding Internet Explorer 6, it is recommended to upgrade even by the provider, Microsoft due to security risk.
We recommend that you upgrade to a more recent version of your browser on this occasion.

The service of CiNii Articles for mobile phones <http://ci.nii.ac.jp/m/> will end at the end of March 2013 as a result of considering the usage rate.
