Upgraded Features and New Website Design (December 28, 2006)
We are pleased to announce that the relaunch of the CiNii website took place on December 25, 2006.
The new and upgraded features include:
New website design
The CiNii website now has a new look. The new design enables users to navigate faster and easier.
In the detailed display pages, users can search by authors' names or keywords, or see the table of contents by clicking links.
Additionally, full text documents can be displayed with just a click.
Detailed information and abstracts are now open access
Detailed display pages are available to any user without registration. (They were previously restricted to registered individual and institutional users.)
Registration is still required in order to see citation information, abstracts published by certain academic societies, and fee-based content.
Please note that all full text documents are available via Pay Per View without user registration.
Limit searches by selected conditions
There has been an increasing demand for limiting searches to results containing the full text of a document.
Users can now select from the following three search conditions:- "All" - searches all records
- "Include Full-text" - searches records that have full text in CiNii
- "Include Full-text and/or link" - searches records that have full text inside and outside CiNii, and records that have links to external services (Ichushi etc.)
Cross-links with Ichushi Web
Cross-links with Japana Centra Revuo Medicina (Ichushi) Web, one of the most significant medical bibliographic database services in Japan, are now available.
Clicking the "Ichushi" link in CiNii takes users to the article information page on the Ichushi Web page.
If a user is not eligible to access the Ichushi Web, a log-in window will be displayed.
Links from Ichushi Web to CiNii were also launched on December 27, 2006.

Downloading of bibliographic information is now available for all articles. Users can utilize article information by using reference management software.
On the right side of the detailed display pages, the following three links are displayed for users to download data:
- Refer/BibIX Format: can be imported to EndNote or RefWorks etc.
- BibTex Format: can be imported to BibTex.
- Tab Separated Text (TSV): can be used for various managing.

New Title (October 10, 2006)

"Chromosome Science" Returns to CiNii. (October 6, 2006)
Full text documents for "Chromosome science " (The Society of Chromosome Research) are once again available. Its condition of provision is now open access. Please view the journal's page at "Browse Publications".
Changes to Search Pages (October 2, 2006)
The following changes to search pages were made on October 1, 2006, in order to accommodate an increasing number of users.
- Limit by "Year" (up to 20 years) has been added.
- "Volume", "Number" and "Page" have been added in Search areas for Advanced Search.
- Sort by "Author" has been removed.
- Sort by "Source Title (descending)" has been added.
- Search query and word length have been limited (up to approximately 1,000 characters and 50 words).

Full text documents for The malacological society of Japan's journals are now available. Please view the journal’s page at "Browse Publications".

Journal Title List is Now Available. (July 13, 2006)
The NII-ELS Journal Title List (TSV format) has been released. Please download from the Journal List Download page. The list will be helpful for library use of online journal lists or link resolvers.
Also, NII-REO has released the title list as well.
Search by Year/Volume/Number/Page is Temporarily Unavailable. (June 30, 2006)
Due to system maintenance, searching via (Year/Volume/Number/Page) will be unavailable from July 1. We appreciate your patience while we make improvements to the site.

"Chromosome science" Will No Longer be Available. (April 24, 2006)
The Society of Chromosome Research has decided to reconsider its condition of provision for "Chromosome Science". The journal will be unavailable until is the conditions of provision are determined. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.

If you forget your password, you are now able to obtain a temporary password on the CiNii front page and log in.
- Click "Forgot your password?" on the CiNii front page.
- Enter your user ID and registered e-mail address.
- Click "Issue a temporary password”.
