The microstructures of R<SUB>3</SUB>(Fe, M)<SUB>29</SUB> compounds in the compositional range between 2-17 and 1-12 phases have been studied by using High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy(HRTEM).<BR>The purpose of this paper is to investigate the crystal structures and the lattice constant of Sm<SUB>3</SUB>(Fe, Co, M)<SUB>29</SUB>(M=Cr, V) compounds and their nitrided ones.<BR>As a result, it was revealed by the electron diffraction and lattice image analysis that the crystal of the main phase in the nitrided samples has a hexagonal structure and its crystal form is not influenced by the nitrifying.<BR>The lattice constant of Sm<SUB>3</SUB>(Fe<SUB>0.75</SUB>Co<SUB>0.10</SUB>Cr<SUB>0.15</SUB>)<SUB>29</SUB> are a=2.432nm and c=2.088nm and the unit cell is composed by the stacking five cells of CaCu<SUB>5</SUB> along a and c axes.
