抄録

An Organic EL display is an emissive type and it provides wide viewing angle, high contrast ratio and quick response time. We have developed a monochrome green dot-matrix type display using Organic EL devices. A pixel number of 256×64 with pixel size of 0.34mm×0.30mm, a luminance of 100cd/m<sup>2</sup> and a contrast ratio of 100:1 or over have been achieved. The display consists of a passive matrix and is driven by constant current. The driving duty ratio is 1/64 and the frame rate is 150Hz. Custom IC's having 64 pins have been developed and they were bonded on the flexible tape (TCP: Tape Carrier Package). The display module is made compact by using the TCP. The next issues yet to be solved for the Organic EL display are to develop a full color display and a lager screen size. A few methods are proposed as to how to realize a full color display.
