Abstract

As a soil improvement measure, grouting is expected not only to consolidate loose sandy ground by permeation but also to constrain ground behavior by fracturing. In order to investigate the effect of fracturing grouting on cyclic liquefaction resistance, undrained cyclic triaxial tests were performed on specimens made of Toyoura standard sand and containing sheets made of cement mortar. It was found that the cyclic liquefaction resistance of specimens containing 4% mortar sheets by volume was 1.2 to 1.5 times as great as that of specimens containing only sand and having the same porosity conditions.
