無水フッ化水素で表面改質したLaNi_<4.7>Al_<0.3>の水素吸蔵特性におよぼす大気保存の影響 Effect of Preservation in the Air on the Hydriding Characteristics of the LaNi_<4.7>Al_<0.3> Alloy Treated by Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride
Hydriding characteristics of LaNi<sub>4.7</sub>Al<sub>0.3</sub> alloys with surfaces modified by high-purity anhydrous HF were evaluated after long-term preservation in air. Affected by poisoning species in air, untreated alloy hydriding activity was enormously decreased. HF-treated alloys with a modified surface layer containing metal fluoride NiF<sub>2</sub>, LaF<sub>3</sub> and AlF<sub>3</sub> maintained relatively high activity. In high-humidity air, metal fluoride NiF<sub>2</sub> reacted with moisture to form hydrous Ni(OH)<sub>2</sub>, and permeation of poisonous species such as O<sub>2</sub>, CO and CO<sub>2</sub> was markedly inhibited by moisture-condensed hydrate screens.
