LiCoO<SUB>2</SUB> with uniform size distribution was synthesized using Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> fine particles. The effects of Li/Co molar ratio and sintering temperature on the microstructural and electric properties were investigated. The grain size increased with the sintering temperature and the Li/Co molar ratio. The grain size distribution was also influenced by them. Small amount of impurity phases were detected with AC impedance analysis, and it gave the optimum Li/ Co molar ratio. The electrochemical charge/discharge capacity took a maximum value (approximately 130mAh/g) at the optimum preparation conditions (Li/Co=1.03).
