抄録
A small snow compressor was developed with a “screw-feed” system to utilize snow resources effectively for various purposes. This system allows collected natural snow to be introduced into a cylinder where it is compressed by a screw to end up with a squeezed concrete cylindrical snow column. Also the system has feasibility of re-designing the column : cross section of the column can be rectangular or hexagonal. It is also relatively easy to colour the column. Mechanical test of the resultant snow column indicated that accumulated columns would last long time and be used as building materials in various occasions and such as snow festival, or for storaging snow. The system is rather small in size and also in energy consumption, and its operation is relatively easy and safe. Economical operation cost is another advantage of the system.
