Abstract
Long glass fiber mat reinforced polypropylene resin sheet is one type of stampable sheets. The mechanical properties of stampable sheet molded part are affected by molding conditions, namely, heating temperature, mold temperature, number of ply. According to the previous report, the strength of a molded cupped part is the highest in the case of 4 plies. So in this report, in order to clarify the effect of the molding conditions on the mechanical strength, rectangular plate parts were molded under the various molding conditions. The main results obtained are as follows; 1) The bending strength of the inner position in the rectangular plate increases slightly with the increase of the heating temperature, but it lowers in the case of 270°C. 2) The tensile strength is the highest in the case of the mold temperature of 100°C. 3) The bending and the tensile strength increase with the increase of ply number until 4 pieces of ply. They are constant or slightly decrease in case of 5 and 6 pieces of ply. 4) The strength of the outer position is higher than that of inner position because of the fiber orientation.
