Abstract

The vacuum system of the SPring-8 storage ring is being operated favorably without a serious trouble. The ultimate pressure of the storage ring reached approximately 9 × 10-9 Pa after the baking at 140°C for about 1 day. The beam-on pressure just before summer shutdown period decreased by about one order of magnitude as compared with that of the early stage of beam commissioning. The NEG re-activation without baking at summer shutdown period had effects on the improvement of vacuum pressure and the increase of beam lifetime. In this report, the pressure trend of the vacuum system is described as the beam commissioning of the SPring-8 storage ring progresses.
