Abstract

Alcoholysis and acidolysis of the polyester derived from 1, 4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (CH DA) and 1, 5-pentanediol (PD) without a catalyst were studied by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopies. The processes in the polycondensation of CHDA with PD in the presence of polyester composed of isophthalic acid (iPA) and 1, 4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), and the that of iPA with CHDM in the presence of polyester composed of CHDA and PD were also studied by the NMR spectroscopies. The following are the results we obtained : (1) The alcoholysis of the polyester occurred above 140°C ; (2) The acidolysis of the polyester did not occur in the same condition ; (3) The polycondensation of CHDA with PD in the presence of polyester afforded the polyester with an almost random monomer sequence. From the results described above along with our previous paper, we can presume that the alcoholysis and hydrolysis during the polycondensation afford the polyester with an almost random monomer sequence in this condition.
