Abstract

The authors previously proposed the method to assess the design of steel highway bridges using the deviation of steel weight statistics. Further, they estimated the weight increase when designed using the new live load (B-Load). The present paper collects the data of steel weight for the bridges designed using B-Load and analyzes statistically. As a consequence, the deviation for simple supported plate girder bridges becomes 53.8 which is very close to the predicted deviation 53.1. The weight increase for simple supported box-girder and continuously supported plate girder bridges are small, and the deviations are 51.5 and 50.5, respectively.
