Thermolysis of HMePhSiSiMe<SUB>3</SUB> in the presence of a catalytic amount of Ir{η<SUP>2</SUP>-Me<SUB>2</SUB>Si(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>PPh<SUB>2</SUB>} (PMe<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB> resulted in the redistribution of substituents to give its isomer HMe<SUB>2</SUB>SiSiMe<SUB>2</SUB>Ph. We propose the mechanism involving the 1,3-Me-shift on a silyl(silylene) complex, which was trapped as a donor-stabilized silyl(silylene)iridium(III) complex.
