<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>A trisubstituted poly(phenylene-vinylene) (Mn = 7700) was obtained in 67% yield by the coupling polymerization of p-bromophenylallene (1a) with sodium diethyl methylmalonate (2) at 80°C for 6h. Owing to the diethyl methylmalonate moieties in the side chain, the polymer is remarkably soluble in various organic solvents. From m-bromophenylallene (1b), a polymer was also obtained in high yield.</jats:p>
