Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Treatment of TaCl4(η5-C5R5)[1 ; R = H (a), R = Me (b)] with a dilithio compound of 1,4-di(p-methoxyphenyl)-1,4-diaza-1,3-butadiene (abbr. MeOC6H4-DAD) gave TaCl2(σ2,π-MeOC6H4-dad)(η5-C5R5) [2; R = H (a), R = Me (b)]. Complexes 2 reacted with a magnesium-butadiene compound to afford Ta(σ2-MeOC6H4-dad)(η5-C5R5)(η4-1,3-butadiene)[3; R = H (a), R = Me (b)]. Crystal structures of 2a and 3b were determined by X-ray analysis.</jats:p>
