The new ruthenium(II) complexes, [RuCl(Me<SUB>2</SUB>SO)(TPA)]X (X = Cl or PF<SUB>6</SUB>) and [Ru(BPG)Cl(Me<SUB>2</SUB>SO)] were prepared, and the catalytic activity for alkane hydroxylation using <I>m</I>-chloroperbenzoic acid was examined.<SUP>2</SUP> Two geometrical isomers of the TPA complexes were isolated and showed marked difference in activity: the trans(Cl, N<SUB>amino</SUB>) isomer is the most active and selective catalyst toward the oxygenation of adamantane giving 1-adamantanol (75%) and 2-adamantanol (5%).
