抄録

Chemical ionization (CI) of benzene and toluene by the CH<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP>, C<SUB>2</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP>, and C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> ions has been studied in an ion-trap type GC/MS at low CH<SUB>4</SUB> pressures. The main product ion from benzene was C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>7</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> for all the reactant ions, and that from toluene was C<SUB>7</SUB>H<SUB>9</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> for the CH<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> and C<SUB>2</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> ions, and C<SUB>7</SUB>H<SUB>7</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> for the C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB><SUP>+</SUP> ion. Initial adduct ions, which had been found in previous CI spectra at high CH<SUB>4</SUB> pressures, were not observed.
