Accumulation of Cationic-polymer Grafted Poly(styrene) Nanopheres onto an Anionic-polymer Surface^1

Styrene nanospheres bearing cationic-polymers such as poly(vinylamine) on their surfaces were accumulated on an anionic-polymer surface by both electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. Quantitative analyses of the adsorption amount by a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) revealed that the adsorption behavior of the nanospheres was strongly influenced by the ionic strength in aqueous solution of the nanosphere.
