Abstract

The flow field of ionic flow and flow of gas induced by the ionic flow are called Electro-Hydro-Dynamic flow field (hereinafter, EHD flow field) in Electrostatic Precipitator (hereinafter, ESP), which have been studied by many investigators. In this study, the cavity flow pattern is calculated by the numerical simulation using the FEM method in order to examine the effect of the number of nodes and elements with the triangular element. Reynolds number is varied from 1 to 10 3 The numerical calculation of EHD flow field in the model of a duct type ESP has been conducted by the application of the above program. It is found that the differences of the flow pattern of the EHD flow field by the difference of the number of nodes of triangular elements are negligible small and the parallel stream line in the EHD flow field is deformed under the corona wires by the ionic wind. The discussion about the turbulent flow is also had.
