Abstract
In this paper, the results of our high pressure x-ray diffraction studies on the high temperature structural intermetallic Ti3Al (with a hexagonal DO19 structure at NTP) have been presented. The motivation of this work is to identify the alloying elements for stabilizing the cubic L12 structure, which is expected to have better ductility and strength. Our present investigation leads to two important results that may have significant bearing in the search for the cubic Ti3Al.
