Abstract

The organic conductor κ- (BEDT-TTF) 2Cu[N (CN) 2]Cl is very sensitive to pressure which modifies intermolecular interaction. It is semiconducting at ambient pressure but turns to be metallic and even superconducting under a moderate pressure of 30 MPa. The interplay between rich variety of the electronic phases appears even below 50 MPa. The effects of atomic substitution, inducing changes in the intermolecular interaction, are compared to the pressure effect. The topology of the Fermi surface has been studied by the oscillatory magnetoresistance under pressure stabilizing metallic phase. In this case, high pressure reaching 1 GPa is useful.
