Effect of Pressure on the Electrical Resistivity of YbAu_2 and YbAu_3

We report on the electrical resistivity of YbAu<SUB>2</SUB> and YbAu<SUB>3</SUB> under hydrostatic pressures up to 20 kbar. It is revealed that YbAu<SUB>2</SUB> is a Kondo-lattice compound with the characteristic temperature of the order of 10 K. Both the coefficient of-InT and the temperature where resistivity has a minimum are decreased by application of pressure. These results suggest that Kondo effect is suppressed by application of pressure. On the other hand, resistivity of YbAu<SUB>3</SUB> is hardly affected by pressure. This implies that the 4f electronic state in YbAu<SUB>3</SUB> is rather stable against lattice compression.
