Abstract

The sound velocities in neon-argon mixed gases have been measured using a piston-cylinder gas apparatus up to 3 GPa at 295 K. The sound velocities increase smoothly with pressure up to the freezing pressure of mixed gas. Although the slopes of velocity with respect to the molar concentration of argon are negative in the lower pressure region, they are positive in the higher one. The gas-solid phase equilibrium is observed by both sound velocity and volume changes.
