Abstract
The recent interest on high pressure biotechnology requires fundamental studies on the pressure behavior of biochemical constituents. In this laboratory, we use hydrostatic pressure both as a thermodynamic parameter, complementary to temperature, to determine the energetic quantities of enzyme reactions and as a tool to study protein conformation. For the second point, different new approaches are presented mainly based on spectroscopic observations which necessitate special high pressure adaptations.
