Pressure Effects on Biopolymers : Facts and Hypotheses
The unique behaviour of proteins under pressure may be the consequence of the fact that they show properties that are between ordered and disordered systems. A better understanding of this behaviour may be expected from a concerted application of a number of experimental approaches such as infrared spectroscopy, molecular dynamics calculations and ultrasonic velocity measurements. New experimental approaches are needed to better probe the role of the cavities and the hydration.
