Self-Reaction and Hydrothermolysis of Cyanamide(NH_2CN)in H_2O at High Pressure and Temperature

The kinetics and pathway of hydrothermolysis of cyanamide and dicyandiamide in fluid H<SUB>2</SUB>O at 175-300°C under 275 atm pressure are described by three experimental methods: blind batch reaction; Raman spectroscopy-observed batch reaction, and IR spectroscopy-observed flow reaction. The results illustrate not only merits of different techniques but the complexity of a seemingly simple reaction.
