Abrasive Waterjet Removal Phenomena in the Workpiece Erosion Front

Characteristics of the"jet-tool"interaction of abrasive waterjet (AWJ) with a workpiece evoke the behaviour of the jet as a quasi"solid"machining tool and/or"tool material with elastic memory". This phenomenon is marked in the erosion front of machined workpiece during whole time of cutting process but the evidence for this is in the end of cutting kerf e. g. in the crossing of boundary between the workpiece and the free medium. In this moment specific phenomenon we have named"overshooting"of the jet of AWJ is occured. The consequence of this phenomenon is uncut triange-a nose. The nose is simply measurable index of a workpiece machinability. The fundamental material removal processes are explained at the stress analysis model of jet cylidrical micro-segment (further only CMS).
