Abstract
In the present study, a new numerical model was proposed to analyze solid/liquid phase change heat transfer change heat transfer without porous media, and usual (without phase change) transient natural convection with/without porous media. With this model, calculations were performed to examine the effect of the natural convection on the solidification of pure water (without porous media) around a single cylinder and two cylinders. The numerical results were in good agreement with experimental ones. It was also shown that for the initial water temperature, Ti, of 0°C, the solidification more efficiently progresses for the single cylinder than that for the two cylinder, but for Ti≥4°C, the reverse is true.
