A separation test of an O/W emulsion was conducted by using a rectangular cell fitted with packed bed type sacrificial electrodes. The continuous separation process was represented by a first-order kinetic rate equation and a two tanks-in-series mixing model as previously reported (Osasa <I>et al</I>., 1996). Three types of electrodes were examined to increase the dissolution rate of aluminum pellets. The most efficient type of electrodes used was one in which aluminum pellets were placed on both an anode and a cathode and the polarity was switched at regular time intervals.
