抄録

Expressway networks in great urban areas are often tied-up with increasing traffic demands with many larger commercial vehicles. The traffic conditions are preventing the expressway networks to keep their function of rapid and steady transport. Investigations are now being given to bottleneck sections on expressway to improve the situation. This report describes an analytical method and traffic survey to determine the necessary merging section length which appears on an improvement project for the Meishin Expressway near the Tennozan and Kajiwara Tunnel.
