Reaction of TiCl4 with three equivalents of Me3SiSPy (SPy = pyridine-2-thiolate) cleanly gave a tris(thiolate) complex, TiCl(SPy)3·THF (<B>1</B>). The pentagonal bipyramidal geometry of <B>1</B> was revealed by X-ray crystallography. This complex showed catalytic activity for the polymerization of ethylene and styrene upon activation with methylaluminoxane.
