Novel Catalytic Oxidative Synthesis of Soluble Conductive Polymers of Poly(3 - butoxycarbonyl - 4 - methylpyrrole)

A soluble conductive polymer, poly(3-butoxycarbonyl-4-methylpyrrole) was synthesized by catalytic oxidative polymerization of 3-butoxycarbonyl-4-methylpyrrole, where only a small amount of iron (III) chloride as a catalyst, and enough amount of oxygen as an oxidant were used. Addtion of BF<SUB>3</SUB>·Et<SUB>2</SUB>O to the reaction system can make the yield of the polymer remarkably increase.
