The effects of the strength and content of elastomer on the toughness of PPS/SEBS blends were observed experimentally. Evaluation of mechanical properties and morphological analysis were performed for polymer blends containing SEBS of 5 different strengths at 3 levels of content. We observed that an increase in the amount of SEBS at a constant tensile strength caused an increase in the density of voids, while a reduction of the strength of the SEBS at a fixed SEBS content caused an increase in the void zone size. Both processes increased the toughness of PPS/SEBS blends efficiently because the presence of voids caused a relaxation of stress concentration due to the release of strain constraint.
