抄録

For these two decades the concept of safety and reliability has been introduced into various fields of civil engineering. Under this circumstance, structural,engineers are required to have basic knowledge about a reliability- or probability-based design philosophy. Opinion survey was conducted for the purpose of understanding how practising engineers currently think about the idea of safety and reliability, probability-based design methodologies, disaster, insurance, and loads for structural design. Some remarks are derived from the results obtained by this survey.
