High-quality Bi<SUB>2</SUB>Sr<SUB>2</SUB>CaCu<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>8+δ</SUB> single crystals have been grown by a traveling solvent floating zone method with a necking technique. The full-width at half maximum of the rocking curves by a X-ray diffraction was improved from 120 arcsec to 70 arcsec by the necking technique. Especially, this technique is very effective on the growth of the single crystals substituted by lanthnoid elements.
