By using hydroxycalix[n]arene-<I>p</I>-sulfonates, H<SUB>j</SUB><B>1<SUB>n</SUB></B><SUP>n−</SUP> (n = 6 and 8) known as super uranophiles, uranyl ion, UO<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>2+</SUP>, in aqueous solution was efficiently extracted by chloroform in the presence of methyltrioctylammonium chloride, MTA<SUP>+</SUP>Cl<SUP>−</SUP>. The extracted species were found to be the ionic associates, [(UO<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>2+</SUP>)(<B>1</B><SUB><B>6</B></SUB><SUP>8−</SUP>)(H<SUP>+</SUP>)<SUB>−3</SUB>](MTA<SUP>+</SUP>)<SUB>9</SUB> and [(UO<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>2+</SUP>)<SUB>2</SUB>(<B>1</B><SUB><B>8</B></SUB><SUP>12−</SUP>)(H<SUP>+</SUP>)<SUB>−3</SUB>](MTA<SUP>+</SUP>)<SUB>11</SUB>.
