抄録

The relationship between catch of the swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus and environmental factors in the Ariake area, Fukuoka Prefecture was examined by multiple regression analysis. Catch was used as the independent variable and water depth, transparency, water color, bottom water temperature, salinity, silicate, phosphate, nitrite nitrogen, dissolved inorganic nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, and catch at previous year were used for the predictor variables. The variable selection by Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) showed that annual catches of this species were well explained by water color, bottom water temperature, phosphate, nitrite nitrogen, dissolved inorganic nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand, and catch in the previous year (R2=0.989) .
