抄録

An air jet loom equipped with a profile reed and sub-nozzles can weave wider fabrics at higher speed than other types. Understanding of the characteristics of air flow on the profile reed is essential for reducing electric power of air jet looms and improving the fabric quality. The behavior of air flows leaking through the profile reed has been experimentally investigated. Visualization of leakage flows behind the profile reed, was made employing Schlieren method using the carbonic acid gas, and measurement of velocity distributions of leakage flow behind the profile reed was carried out using a hot-wire anemometer.<BR>Visualization results reveal that the air leakage behind the profile reed depends on count of reed. The velocity distribution indicate that two concentration regions of leakage flow behind the profile reed are located at the distances of40mm and60mm from sub-nozzle. Position of the leakage concentration region of40mm is changed in the vertical direction by varying space ratio of the profile reed. The position of centers and direction of the leakage flow behind the profile reed can be clearly recognized by comparing the mean velocity distributions with the visualization images.
