Abstract

This paper investgates the gathering behavior of fish to the FAD. Juveniles of Seriola quinqueradiata were observed. The experiment used an outdoor experimental tank and the FAD models to evaluate the gathering behavior and distribution during diurnal change.<br>The distribution pattern of juvenile Seriola quinqueradiata during diurnal change matched the change of light intensity. In the daytime, the fish gathered to the models but in the nighttime, didnot. The juveniles of Seriola quinqueradiata stayed beneath a model FAD at relative position for a long time. The ratio of the index of gathering density which reflects the gathering behavior depended on the shape of the model. The ratio was a high value in each experiment, and so the juveniles of Seriola quinqueradiata exhibited a strong gathering behavior.
