Abstract

This paper aims at to analyze the meaning of living with the nature for those who experience it, and to examine what spatial conditions make such experience possible. The analysis of literary works in the Taisho and the first half of Showa Period was conducted for this purpose. The nature represents the stable world as against the unstable real world. The image of ambiguity of the space as well as the person who loves in this space let people to observe the self by redefining the relation of things. The relation of artificiality and the nature is not such that they are confronted with each other, but they are woven into each other in those literary works.
