抄録

“Active cochlea”, a new idea for sound processing in organ of Corti, is explained. Neosynaptogenesis after overstimulation of sound suggests that the mature organ of Corti is not a rigid structure but may have plasticity. ACh and ATP may regulate sensitivity and input-output functions of the organ of Corti by inducing an intracellular Ca2+increase in the hair cell as a transmitter or co-transmitter of an olivo-cochlea bundle or as humoral factors. These bio-modulators also regulate cochlea function via active processing of supporting cells. Clinical applications of the protective effects of contraototoxicity in the neurotrophin family are discussed. Early stage insertion of a cochlea implant after hair cell loss is recommended to maintain spinal ganglion cells.
