抄録

The tephrostratigraphic characters of the Shioda Formation of the Nakatsu Group, distributed along the Sagami River in central Japan, were described. This formation is 72m in thickness and intercalates 190 tephra beds. According to the results of the tephrostratigraphic research, several characteristic tephra beds were recognized in the formation. The tephra bed Sd100 is characterized by high ratio of quartz (12%) and zircon. The fission track age measured for zircon grains of the Sd100 is 2.1±0.5Ma.
