抄録

Seventy-one consecutive cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which were treated in our clinic from 1962 through 1971, were studied to evaluate the results of our treatment and to search for the factors which seemed to influence the prognosis.<br>The cumulative 5-yr. survival rate was 37%, and the relative 5-yr. survival rate was 40%.<br>Females survived better than males. Patients under 50 yrs. of age had better survival rates than older patients.<br>Undifferentiated squamous cell carcinoma (transitional cell carcinoma including so-called lymphoepithelioma) had better survival rates than well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.<br>The cases with neurologic findings, bony destruction and/or large metastatic lymph nodes had the poorest prognosis.<br>The patients with the primary lesion which disappeared by the doeses ranging from 3, 000 to 6, 000 rads had better survival rates than the patients of whose tumor disappeared by thesmaller or larger doses than above mentioned range.<br>Unless the patients were disturbed by recurrence in two years after the initial treatments, they had .. better prognosis.
