We studied 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (2HP-β-CD) which had low molecular weight, inclusive ability of water repellent substances and high water-solubility. This material was complexed with fragrance materials and controlled release was investigated . Eugenol was selected among them because of its suitable solubility in water. Eugenol was measured by GC and Head Space GC in order to determine the continuity of smell. Further, the percutaneous absorptions of three kinds of fragrance: eugenol, linalool and benzyl acetate, were observed by in vitro percutaneous permeation experiment by the use of diffusion cells. It was clear that the percutaneous absorption of the complex with 2HP-β-CD was released much slower than that of the samples not complexed with 2HP-β-CD.
