Abstract

Systolic and diastolic function were studied echocardiographycally in 58 mitral valve insuficiency dogs and 74 healthy dogs. Grade of mitral valve insufficiency was classified as mild, modelate and severe on the base of mitral regurgetation echo-cardiographycally.<BR>Data obtained were compared to those of healthy dogs.<BR>Fractioal shortning (FS) in mitral valve insufficiency was increased with progress of severity. In severe cases, however, there was a tendency of decrease in FS. The result indicates hyperkinetic motion in order to increase outflow volume.<BR>Early diastoic flow velocity (E) increased and rapid filling phase decreased in severe cases. Atrial contraction flow velocity (A) decreased, therefore pseudonormalization of AE ratio was observed. Left ventricular internal dimension in diastole and systole increased in severe cases, and systolic and distolic blood pressure measured by oscillometric method has the tendency of decrese in severe cases.
