Abstract
Pancreaticobiliary maljunction is a congenital anomaly with a union of the pancreatic and biliary ducts that is located outside the duodenal wall. Pancreatic juice refluxes into the bile duct because the action of the sphincter muscle (Oddi) does not functionally affect the union. We proved roentogenographically this regurgitation by pancreatography via the minor duodenal papilla. Contrast medium injected into the accessory pancreatic duct from the minor duodenal papilla, moved through the main pancreatic duct into the bile duct. The middle and inferior bile duct was opacified, though the contrast was not excreted into the duodenum via the major duodenal papi lla. Pancreatography via the major duodenal papilla situated in the horizontal portion of the duodenum revealed the pancreaticobiliary maljunction with 2 cm-common channel in length.<BR>It is suggested that regurgitation of the pancreatic juice into the bile duct easily occurs in pancreaticobiliary maljunction.
