Abstract

The Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome is perihepatitis due to sexually transmitted disease, mainly by Clamydia trachomatis infection.<br> A case of perihepatitis due to Clamydia trachomatis (Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome) is reported. A 19-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of severe abdominal pain of the right upper quadrant, following lower abdominal pain. She underwent an artificial abortion 17 days before admission. Clamydia RNA was detected from the cervical canal of the uterus. IgA and IgG of Clamydia trachomatis were detected from serum of the patient. So Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome was diagnosed. She was successfully treated by antibiotics.<br> As Clamydia trachomatis infection is increasing recently, it is important to remember this syndrome when examining young women with abdominal pain of the right upper quadrant.
