Abstract
A patient was a 48-year-old man with a chief complaint of constipation and abdominal fullness. Abdominal X ray and a barium enema showed dilatation of the sigmoid colon.
A diagnosis of CICP (chronic idiopathic colonic pseudo-obstruction) was made on the basis of these examinations. When various conservative therapies proved in effective, so we performed laparoscopy-assisted sigmoidectomy.
The postoperative course was good, and the patient has not experienced any constipation and abdominal fullness.
