In this paper, we report a case of small cell type invasive breast carcinoma with endocrine features and multiple metastases to the bone, liver and skin in a 56-year-old woman. Her desease rapidly deteriorated to its termination. She had a 2.7×2.5cm mass in the A quardrant of the right breast. Needle aspiration cytology revealed tumor cells classified as Class V. The patient underwent a breast conservative surgery. Histopathological examination using H. E staining indicated that the tumor was derived from neuroendocrine cells; and Grimerius staining revealed that argyrophilic granules were present in those cells. An immunohistochemical assay of Cytokeratin, EMA and NSA gave positive results, indicating that the patient had a small cell type invasive breast carcinoma with endocrine features. Since multiple bone metastasis was found immediately after surgery, the patient received systemic chemoendocrine therapy. However, the cancer metastasized to the liver and skin. The patient died four months later. We think that, among breast cancers with endocrine features, the so-called undifferenctiated small cell cancer has a poor prognosis, and no effective therapy seems to be available at the present time.
